CAD Athletes Called Up to the National Team
Last weekend, the Luxembourg delegation traveled to the European Team Championships – 3rd Division, held in Maribor. The CAD was represented by five members: Lara (pole vault), Liz (3000m steeplechase), Noémie (javelin), Fanny (1500m), and Max (javelin).
Lara Marx cleared 3.00 m in challenging windy conditions. She handled her pole vault competition with composure and secured 5th place, earning 11 points for Luxembourg.
Liz Weiler finished neck and neck with the athlete from Andorra, both crossing the line of the 3000m steeplechase in 11:35.11. The final ranking gave Liz a shared 3rd place, allowing her to contribute 12.5 points to the Luxembourg team.
Noémie Pleimling quickly found her rhythm in the javelin throw and claimed 2nd place on her second attempt with a mark of 50.45 m. A strong performance that she aimed to maintain throughout the competition.
In the 1500 m, Fanny Goy stayed well-positioned throughout the race and delivered a strong final straight to earn a well-deserved 5th place.
Max Wagner threw 43.78 m in the javelin, earning 3 points for the team.
After 20 events, Luxembourg finished 2nd in the overall ranking with 410 points, behind an unbeatable Iceland (461.5 pts). Bosnia took 3rd place with 382 points, following a successful appeal late in the day.
A huge congratulations to the entire Luxembourg team, and especially to our athletes, for this fantastic 2nd place in the 3rd division and promotion to the 2nd division!
